In short
- Everything — URL lists, screenshots, reports, settings — is processed and stored locally in your browser.
- No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. We do not sell or share data.
- Screenshots and URL lists are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
- If you activate Pro, your license key and the BatchScroll Pro product id (Monthly or Lifetime) are sent to Gumroad, only to verify the license.
- If you import a sitemap (Pro), BatchScroll downloads it from the website you entered. Nothing about you or your URL list is sent with that request.
Who we are
BatchScroll (“BatchScroll”, “we”, “us”) is a Chrome extension made and sold by an independent developer. You can reach us at moonlight89kg@gmail.com.
Data the extension handles
BatchScroll does not have user accounts and does not run any server of its own. All of the following stays on your device:
- URL lists you type, paste or import (from a file, your open tabs or a sitemap).
- Screenshots, thumbnails and batch results (final URL, HTTP status, page title, image sizes, errors). They are stored in the extension's local browser storage (IndexedDB) so your results survive a reload.
- Settings such as device sizes, delays and file-name patterns, stored with
chrome.storage.local. - License details if you activate Pro: the license key, which Pro product it belongs to (Monthly or Lifetime), the purchase email address and sale id returned by Gumroad, the date a cancelled membership ends, and verification timestamps, stored with
chrome.storage.local.
Exports (ZIP, PDF, CSV and JSON files) are created inside your browser and saved through Chrome's normal download flow. Once downloaded, they are ordinary files under your control.
The pages you capture
To take a screenshot, BatchScroll opens each URL in its own window of your Chrome profile and loads it exactly as if you had visited it yourself. The websites you capture therefore receive your normal browser request (including your IP address and any cookies you already have for them) and may apply their own privacy policies, cookies or analytics. BatchScroll does not send the content of those pages anywhere.
Network requests made by the extension
BatchScroll makes only two kinds of network requests of its own, and no background traffic beyond them.
1. License verification with Gumroad
Gumroad is our payment provider.
- When: when you activate a Pro license key, when you ask BatchScroll to re-check it in the license dialog, automatically about once every 7 days while Pro is active, and each time you open BatchScroll after a check failed (for example while you were offline), until a check succeeds or the key is removed. Nothing is sent if you use the free plan without a key.
- What is sent: your license key, the BatchScroll Pro product id and whether the activation counter should be increased. When you first activate a key, BatchScroll may send it once for each Pro product (Monthly and Lifetime) to find out which one you bought; after that, only the matching product id is sent. This goes to
https://api.gumroad.com/v2/licenses/verify. - What comes back: whether the license is valid, refunded or disputed, for a Pro Monthly key whether the membership was cancelled, has ended or has a failed payment (and the date), how many activations it has, and purchase details such as the purchase email address and sale id. Gumroad's answer also contains other details of the purchase (such as the price, currency, card type and country); BatchScroll ignores them and does not store them. We store only what is listed above.
Like any web request, Gumroad also receives your IP address. Gumroad's handling of data is described in Gumroad's privacy policy.
2. Sitemap import (Pro)
- When: only when you click Load in the sitemap dialog.
- What is requested: the sitemap address you entered and, if it is a sitemap index, up to 50 sitemaps it lists on the same website. Sitemaps on other websites are skipped.
- What is sent: an ordinary download request without cookies. Nothing about you or your URL list is sent with it. Like any web request, that website sees your IP address.
- What happens to it: the file is read in your browser, and only the page addresses it lists are added to your URL list.
Permissions and why we need them
| Permission | What BatchScroll uses it for |
|---|---|
debuggerRequired |
Render pages at exact device sizes (viewport width, pixel density, mobile user agent, touch) and capture full pages beyond the visible screen. To do this, BatchScroll runs its own built-in scripts in the page being captured: they scroll it so lazy-loaded images appear, wait for web fonts, and read the page's title, final address and height for your report (the HTTP status comes from the page load). It also closes any alert, confirm or prompt dialog the page opens so the capture is not blocked, and, if you turn on the Pro options, adds CSS that hides cookie banners and chat widgets or applies your custom CSS. Before a page is shown in the capture tab, BatchScroll checks its type (the It is attached only to tabs in BatchScroll's own capture window, only while a batch is running, and is detached after each page. While it is attached, Chrome shows a “started debugging this browser” notice. Because this permission could in principle be used on any tab, Chrome's install dialog lists it as “Access the page debugger backend” and “Read and change all your data on all websites”. BatchScroll uses it only as described here. |
storageRequired |
Save your settings and license status locally on your device. |
unlimitedStorageRequired |
Keep full-page screenshots in local browser storage (IndexedDB) until you export or clear them, so finished batches can still be exported after a reload. Large batches can hold thousands of images (hundreds of MB to several GB); this permission keeps Chrome from evicting them under storage pressure, or a batch from running out of quota on a smaller disk. Nothing leaves your device. |
tabsOptional — requested only when you click “Open tabs” |
Read the addresses of your open tabs once, to add them to your URL list; the permission is removed again right after. Chrome shows this permission as “Read your browsing history”. BatchScroll only reads the addresses of the tabs that are open when you click; it does not watch your browsing or use Chrome's history. You can also revoke it at any time on chrome://extensions. |
| Access to a websiteOptional — requested per website, only for sitemap import | When you import a sitemap.xml (Pro), Chrome asks you to allow access to that sitemap's website only (with and without www), so BatchScroll can download the sitemap file (see Sitemap import above). The permission is removed again after the import. BatchScroll never asks for access to all websites for this; the “all websites” line in Chrome's install dialog comes from the debugger permission above. You can check or revoke site access at any time on chrome://extensions. |
Access to api.gumroad.comRequired |
Verify Pro license keys as described above. No other data is sent. |
What we don't do
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising or tracking of any kind.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your data, and no use of it for creditworthiness or lending purposes.
- No remote code: everything the extension runs ships inside the extension package.
- No access to your browsing history: BatchScroll never uses Chrome's history API and does not monitor the pages you visit. The optional
tabspermission (which Chrome labels “Read your browsing history”) is used only to read the addresses of your currently open tabs when you click “Open tabs”. - No reading of pages you don't ask BatchScroll to capture.
BatchScroll's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Clear results in BatchScroll deletes stored screenshots and batch data.
- Remove from this browser in the license dialog removes your license key and purchase details from the browser. (It does not free one of the key's activations; see the terms.)
- Uninstalling BatchScroll makes Chrome delete everything the extension stored.
Because we never receive your screenshots or URL lists, we have nothing to delete on our side.
Purchases
Pro is sold through Gumroad. Payment details are handled by Gumroad and never reach us or the extension. As the seller, we receive the order information Gumroad shares with sellers, such as your email address and purchase details, and use it only to provide support, process refunds and prevent license abuse.
This website
This website is a static site. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics or third-party scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and requested page) for security and reliability.
Children
BatchScroll is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how BatchScroll handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. Material changes will also be noted in the changelog.
